Selfish Salvation

money_churchDear Followers Of Christ

After considering what I would write in this sermon for many months my prayer is that I will stir your hearts toward reflecting on why we serve our Lord.

I believe that this reflection is probably one of the greatest tasks we as professing believers can undertake, so much so that if we do not prayerfully consider this core aspect we are certain to have many areas of our spiritual life abound with confusion regarding God's will for our lives and how we practice our faith. It is so important that our very salvation may eventually be at risk.

If you have read much of what we have written on this site you are aware that we do not find our salvation is based on an event we could easily record from some moment in the past, but rather our salvation is a daily event of being currently grafted in the vine. Paul cautions us about this in Romans 11.

Thy Kingdom Come

postauthoriconWritten by Robert Cole | Print | E-mail

heavenkingIn this sermon, we will talk about worldy kingdoms versus the Kingdom of God. It will only be an overview, since it could take months to share and discover the enormous truths and therefore it's implications, yet I believe it is of the upmost importance.

To begin with, we must understand that God is the establisher of all worldy governments. Sometimes, matter of fact, usually, those given this authority take advantage of this, such as Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 4. Even though governments may not act Godly it doesn't mean that He hasn't established them.

Understanding The Curse

postauthoriconWritten by Robert Cole | Print | E-mail

curseDear Servant's Of The Most High,

Our understanding of original sin, and the consequences there of, is something that most people have difficulty balancing in light of God's grace and the new covenant. Many of us understand that the covenant of Abraham and the Mosaic Law does not apply to the new covenant believer, but rather it was fulfilled through the life of Jesus with him introducing to us the eternal principles and commandments of the Kingdom of God, commonly known as the "New Covenant" .

For centuries there have been theologians, preachers, and a myriad of other recognized or self appointed leaders who have promoted either a re-invention of a modern day "christianized" mosaic style of covenant typically with overtones of worldly government associations to the blatant merging of church and state. Or they go the other extreme with complete disregard for biblically based church structure and order adapting to the culture of the day or the latest revelation that God seems to have just revealed to one of his "devout" leaders.

You Do Have A Choice

postauthoriconWritten by Robert Cole | Print | E-mail
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. (Jos 24:15)

And the people said unto Joshua, Nay; but we will serve the LORD. And Joshua said unto the people, Ye are witnesses against yourselves that ye have chosen you the LORD, to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses. Now therefore put away, said he, the strange gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto the LORD God of Israel. And the people said unto Joshua, The LORD our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey. (Jos 24:21-24)

choiceDear Brothers and Sisters,

Being new covenant saints, it is easy to miss the nuggets of truth we have recorded in the old testament. Even though we as gentiles, have never been under the covenant made with Abraham or with the nation of Israel, it still deals with people in covenant relationship with God Almighty and there is much we can glean from these relationships.

Longing and Thirsting

When was the last time you can truthfully say you longed after the Almighty? Does it compare to what King David wrote in the above Psalm? Think about it just for a few minutes before you continue to read this article. Reflect honestly on your desire, your longing, your thirsting, your deep continual need to be refreshed from the living waters that only comes from he who is the Word, embodied as the Son of God, your Messiah, your fortress, your redeemer, your King. The next thing that I am going to write is probably one of the most important principles that very few Christians even come close to knowing or understanding. It is powerful and once you grasp the depth, and significance of it, your spirit will never be the same.
